About Us
The Cemetery, one of only 136 National Cemeteries in the entire country, opened in 1867. Since 1984, the non-profit Regional National Cemetery Improvement Corporation has raised money to purchase and clear land to expand Fayetteville National Cemetery. The purchases, since turned over to federal government, have more than tripled the size of the Cemetery. But with the passing of the WWII generation, Fayetteville National Cemetery gets closer to full every day. Early in 2016 we bought another lot, but don't have the funds to pay off a loan and clear the land before it can be transferred. The Veterans Memorial 5K is our largest fundraiser. Please help us get more land!
Course
Water will be provided along the course and road crossings are guarded.
The 5K course will begin near the entrance to the Fayetteville National Cemetery, 700 S. Government Blvd., but was substantially revised in 2014, thanks to completion of the trail to the north of the Cemetery. That new course will be used again this year.
We will begin the race by circling the Cemetery.

Awards
Top overall male and female.
First, second and third place male and female in these age groups:
17 and under; 18-24; 25-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59.
First and second place male and female in age groups: 60-69; 70+
Presentation: 9:00 am.
